Overview
Since 2019 our team has been involved in the development and implementation of an Inter-professional health course which is now mandatory for all 1st year Medical, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dental and Dental Hygiene students at Dalhousie University to complete. The Dalhousie IPHE: Cultural Safety in Healthcare for Indigenous People course has had overwhelming positive evaluations and as a result the ACHH Initiative team. The module is expected to be delivered as a pilot study to 375 clinicians across NS Health, IWK Health, and Tajikeimik Health and Wellness by Fall 2024.
This proposed research is anticipated to bridge the knowledge gap offering clinicians an opportunity to learn from Indigenous Peoples about working in a health partnership and creating a culturally safe environment.
